“Antwon Rose Jr. runs for his life.”

A common car stop may lead to an uncommon outcome. Antwon Rose Jr. was in a car stopped in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania recently by local police. And Rose, a 17 year-old, followed his instinct and ran away. A cop at the scene, Michael Rosfeld, pulls his service weapon and shoots 1, 2, 3 shots, and Rose has gone.

Three shots, three hits, one dead. Rose, unarmed, had no weapon and posed no threat. Rosfeld, on his first day on the job as a cop, may have worked his last as the local prosecutor charged him with murder, and now, a 17 year old boy has breathed his last and, by death, joins scores of youth killed by cops: Oscar Grant, Rekia Boyd, Mike Brown, Tamir Rice, Alan Blueford, and beyond.

East Pittsburgh has exploded into protest over what happened to Rose. Once again, death comes by cops, but because of video phones and social media, we see it. And resistance grows.

From imprisoned nation, this is Mumia Abu-Jamal.
