“A Beginning.”
It has begun. Today marks the second day since I began the treatment regimen of direct-acting antiviral drugs, or DAADs, designed to eliminate Hepatitis C from my system. You, the people, made this possible.
You, the people, filled two courtrooms in Scranton in December 2015. You, the people, supported our lawyers Bret Grote of Abolitionist Law Center of Pittsburgh and Bob Boyle of New York City, as well as Dr. Joseph Harris, MD, who diagnosed me as I was nodding in and out in a wheelchair in a prison visiting room—and later served as an expert witness in our hearings in Scranton.
You, the people, sent love, prayers, letters, cards, money, and strength to us all, for which the words “I thank you” seem pale in comparison. Yet I thank you still. You, the people, are helping me heal. The battle isn’t over, but this is a damn good beginning.
