There is an effort in operation as we speak, to scuttle President Joe Biden’s re election campaign. Driven by fear, insecurity, and poor polling numbers, leaders and donors of the Democratic Party are pressing a plot to push Biden aside. That said, I am no fan of Biden, who was a leading force of the Super Predator scandal when quasi-scientists claimed to have evidence of unique criminality of Black and Brown youth, something that has since been disproved.
What is bothersome, however, is a profound betrayal of Biden’s election efforts for fears he’ll be bested in November by former U.S. President Donald Trump. This fear, I think, is backed by unfavorable polling data. In truth, he may be bested, but shouldn’t he be allowed to fight his fight? This isn’t a conflict between young warriors. It’s a battle between two old dudes. Who wants it the most? Betrayal, especially political betrayal, is an ugly affair, and it cannot bear good fruit. Let Biden be Biden, dammit. Let him fight his fight, this fight of his life. Hasn’t he earned that? With love, not fear. This is Mumia Abu-Jamal.
