by Kevin “Rashid” Johnson
did you know the color of her eyes
the texture of her hair
did you know she was there
did you even care
incapable of harm
an innocent new life
a beacon of light
to husband and wife
her world wondrous
her focus discovery
her very existence a vision
of her people’s recovery
of lands and lives stolen
generations deprived
no way to measure the cost
their existence denied
you ended her life
bombed from the air
you knew she was there
you didn’t even care
