It’s Not Over

It’s Larry Stromberg, SCI Phoenix in Pennsylvania. This is my poem “It’s not over.”

It’s not over.
Know what has happened,
Where you’ve been,
What you’ve done.
It’s not over.
Whether having addictive parents,
Abusive childhood,
Adopted,
Loss,
Pain,
Mental health,
Betrayed,
Death,
Crimes committed,
Criminalization,
A victim or an offender,
Incarceration or prison,
Which is the same,
It’s not over.

There’s always a chance for redemption,
By accountability,
By responsibility,
By faith,
By therapy,
By possible medication,
By loving yourself,
By education,
By fighting for your freedom,
By second chances.
Never give up.
As long as you have breath in your lungs,
Honey, it’s not over.
It’s not over.
