Raymond Eugene Jenkins

Yeah, hi. This is Mr. Jenkins from Corcoran State Prison. Today’s topic is “The Crowd That You Keep,” and the reason why I picked that one is because, you know, we focus on the crowd that we keep, or surround us. And what that is, is basically saying the crowd that you keep is the crowd that tells you, well it kind of tells you what you going focus on — what are you going to do with this certain crowd. If you’re dealing with a crowd that, what we call stupidity, drama, gets outrageous, then you are going to, nine out of ten, you are going to be doing the same thing; because if you’re around a crowd that’s positive, thinking, doing things that you know that help others, and then you will be going through that way too.

So, in the prison system, we have a lot of prisoners that deal with crowds that they don’t think they like to deal with crowd, what we call fit in. They deal with crowds that, “I have to be somebody with this crowd, because this crowd is all I have.” You have a thinking crowd that a lot of people are free to be around. Thinking crowd, people that think think, that think positively, that think about being successful when they come out of the prison system. The crowd that you keep is a crowd that you know that that the possibility that you are going to continue that crowd when you get out of prison. Anytime you think negative, and you’re around a negative crowd, you know, like we said, you are what you eat, and in the same way, goes through the crowd. You are the crowd that you keep. Your [unclear] is always should be a limit. You don’t be around a crowd that all they do is gossip. You know, in the prison system, we call men that gossip like women, and we do have them, young men that talks about things that we wouldn’t talk about on the street.

The crowd that you do want to keep is a crowd that’s had number of progress; crowd that’s being successful. Think successful. You know, we say we eat and sleep successful. Well, some people eat and sleep negative. So, my point is, be around crowds that think positive. Be around people that think positively, that want to be successful, that’s been around successful people. The more successful people you’re around, the better chances you have are never coming back, or never getting locked up or never going to prison. You’ll never put yourself in a situation like that where you will be subject to prison. So, what I’m saying is always think positively, not negatively, and I’d like to hear your feedback on that, and I appreciate listening, and I hope I hear feedback, and hopefully next week I can get my word together without fumbling. You have a blessed day, and God bless you.
