Help the Redwood Justice Fund free Marvin Shaka

Marvin (aka Shaka Nantambu) was 19 when he was charged with murder and then sentenced to death in 1980 after the Santa Clara County district attorney had removed all Black people from his jury, and had him in shackles throughout the trial. His case was littered with injustice, including perjured testimony, hypnotized witnesses, and jailhouse informants who have recanted, etc. . In the summer of 2020, when he was 60, the federal courts overturned his conviction because of racism in jury selection, a Batson claim. The Santa Clara D.A. is deciding whether to retrying this 42 year old case. We believe that Marvin Walker should be returned to his family, now. And we are prepared to defend Marvin during a retrial. Mr. Walker has lived his whole adult life on death row in San Quentin State prison. Over his decades on death row he has earned the trust and respect of everyone he has encountered. He has close to 100 nieces and nephews who need his love and support. He has survived prison-induced COVID and his health is faltering. It is time for him to be released. The Redwood Justice Fund has raised 75k to pay for this final step to freedom. We need to raise 75K more. Your gift today can help us reach the goal of freedom..
