In a press meeting with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, president Donald Trump expressed to the world he will cut a great deal with the Israelis to bring peace by getting the Israelis and Palestinians together to work out a compromise everyone can agree on.

Such simplistic approach to negotiations may work for a two-party business deal. However, it is a recipe for total failure in geopolitical negotiations for a two-state solution peace deal between the Israelis and Palestinians. President Trump will be faced with the problem of getting Palestinians to the negotiation table with the Israelis.

After having witnessed president Trump embarrassingly fawn over American Jews and promise to move the American embassy to Jerusalem at an AIPAC conference during his presidential campaign in a move to be more pro Israel than Hillary Clinton, Trump has all but destroyed America’s image of being a neutral party in any future talks for Israeli-Palestinian peace deals. Palestinians would not be so foolish to entertain any fraudulent peace talks initiated by the likes of president Trump.

Furthermore, president Trump has doomed any Israeli-Palestinian peace talks before they have begun by vacillating between a two-state solution or a one-state solution as U.S. foreign policy, thus Israeli prime minister Netanyahu, a pitbull-like Zionist leader, recognized president Trump’s trepidation and indecisiveness as a sign of weakness and as a green light to continue annexing the Palestinian’s West Bank.

President Trump, more so than any other president before him, has the perfect opportunity to achieve an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal, but such a historic Israeli-Palestinian peace deal opportunity is slipping through president Trump’s hands like sand because he has failed to learn from the mistakes of previous administrations, having an imbalanced Israeli-Palestinian policy, an unwillingness to exercise leverage on both parties, and relying solely on bilateral negotiations.

The U.S. president that will get the Israelis and Palestinians to reach a comprehensive peace deal will be the U.S. president that is not beholden to or fearful of the powerful American Jewish lobby groups, and Trump is not that president.
