Hello, this is a poem called “Rain Down on Me” in association with the commentary “A Storm is Coming.” It symbolizes the strength of rain and God’s vastness in purifying the land of evil, racism, and injustice.
Rain down on me. God, the vastness of your rain could drench the world all around us at one time, so please rain down on me to help clear the land of hate and open our eyes toward freedom, justice, and equality.
Rain down on me, so I can be the person that you made me to be. In this land of false dreams and no liberty of thee I refuse to sing, this ain’t no land of the freedom. They fail to allow freedom to ring from every mountaintop for every man, woman, and child, so how can we as a nation smile?
We call up on you to release a massive storm, an allieving rain that replenishes the earth just like you did during Noah’s ark, resurrecting an entirely new generation, starting the world all over again, which was your plan anyway. Rain down on me, rain down on me. Show us your compassionate mercy. Get us to the finish line, and let us all go free.
