“C-Note” Hooker On Hunger Strike

Greetings!

Donald “C-Note” Hooker, a correspondent and internationally recognized artist currently incarcerated in the California State Prison at Lancaster, has declared that he is going on hunger strike. 

He is protesting the failure of the California prison system to grant him access to a nonviolent parole hearing under Proposition 57.

Hunger Striking Call to Action, September 21st and Beyond.

C-Note has a list of five demands:

1. Immediate release to supervised parole.

2. Conduct an investigation at the ombudsman’s level as to why his status as a nonviolent offender was not recognized for over four years. 

3. Conduct an investigation at the ombudsman’s level as to why nonviolent African-American offenders incarcerated under the “three strikes” law have been denied access to nonviolent parole.

4. Hold those responsible accountable through disciplinary action. 



5. Ban retaliatory actions against himself and his supporters.

C-Note is serving 35 to life for an offence committed in 1997. He maintains his innocence.

He states that he was initially declared eligible for parole under California state law but then had his eligibility reversed by the governor’s office.
