Prison Radio

Because of your generosity, we raised $36,118! From all of us here at Prison Radio – Thank You!

This year has been one of drastic change. We are facing a pandemic that is tearing through prisons as officials stand by, millions have taken to the streets to protest police brutality in one of the largest anti-racist uprisings of our era, and a record-setting fire season has cast a harsh light on the way our society devalues and exploits incarcerated bodies.

Throughout this, Prison Radio has continued to record commentaries bringing critical updates from some of the people most affected by the changing world. Without the voice of Shakaboona discussing the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns on the mental health of incarcerated people, Peter Murkuria’s analysis of the racism and corruption in the courts that lead to the grand jury’s decision on Breonna Taylor’s murder, or Mumia Abu-Jamal’s insights into the perils of neoliberal reform, the abolition movement could not be where it is today.

It is because of your support that Prison Radio is able to keep the phone lines open to hear these words. We are a grassroots organization, too radical in our vision of abolition for most foundations; without the hundreds of small donations from our supporters, we would not be able to continue our work publishing unfiltered insights from the inside.

All of us at Prison Radio thank you from the bottom of our heart. We are honored to know we can count on you to stand in solidarity with us and our vision of a world without prisons, and [with you by our side] we will continue to fight for the freedom and dignity of all human beings. None of us are free until all of us are free.

Cuando luchamos ganamos! When we fight, we win!
