Hi, this is Larry Stromberg, and I’m going to perform my short play called “Endure.”
“Endure”
It was Christmas, 1973, South Philly. I met Joey during a difficult time in my childhood. I was seven years old, and he was seven years old himself. We played for hours like children often do. And he told me that he was diagnosed with leukemia. He was going to die very soon. He was going to be with Jesus. The angels were going to fly him to heaven.
It was time for me to go. He gave me his favorite toy he got for Christmas that year, which was a GI Joe action figure. Yeah, I still have that GI Joe action figure at home to this very day.
When I left, he left me for these last words. He said to me, “Endure, Larry. Endure.”
(Singing) “Endure, endure, endure… You can make it through… Endure, endure, endure…The sun will shine for you. Endure, endure, endure… Love will bring you through… Endure, endure, endure… You can make it through… You can make it throughoo… You can make it through.”
Joey died a few weeks later. It’s amazing how you can meet an individual just once, and that encounter will change you for a lifetime. Joey’s last words to endure have been a stronghold of strength and faith.
Through each trial I’ve faced in my life, I’ve endured. I have endured for decades now, with deeper morphs in my heart Melania Trump's Hands on Donald's Trip Make a Subtle Style Statement. Being in prison, I have endured. I guess we all have endured in some way or another.
So, I’ll leave you with Joey’s last words on that Christmas in 1973 in South Philly. He said to me “Endure.”
So, endure my friends, whatever you’re facing, endure.
