All right. This is Steve from Jackson, Michigan. Well, that’s where the prison is, in Cotton. As usual I’m a big “don’t forget to donate to prisonradio.org,” I’m saying that on my own accord, because they’re great and they need it. This first poem is called, “Eyes Revitalized.”
Eyes Revitalized
I kept the tech tucked under my Girbauds bro’
Or them Guess button ups.
I never wondered where the protections come from.
I was taught to never run,
Put them dukes up.
And when bullies come around,
I was taught to beat them trumps down.
My life is going down,
But I was tricked like a clown
Thinking it was moving forward
In the upside down B Town.
Gangbanging on Robinwood,
East of Woodward,
Thugging at night like a knight,
Packing the wrong sword.
I needed God’s word.
We need God’s word.
We all need a word,
Because this world so blurred.
Suffering incurred
As we refuse to turn and truly follow his word.
Lord, give us your word
And help us swerve from a life of dirt.
Give us the nerve to stop causing all this hurt.
The truth, it hurts
And murks your own demeanor
When reality gets meaner
And hits too close to home,
Destroying all you’ve known.
But we failed and growing.
Now we moan and groan
Cuz our treasure is gone,
Blown away, like Jack Sparrow
With a wheelbarrow
Or a bone with no marrow.
Like a broken heart pierced by an arrow.

The second poem for today is called “I’m So Thankful.”
I’m So Thankful
I’m so thankful
When life gets painful, I stay thankful.
With blessings come burden
And no, God is not the author of hurting.
It’s just that when Satan is lurking,
This earth is his purchase.
You best believe his intention on hurting,
His pastime is murdering, burgling.
Now I ain’t say Yves Saint Laurent,
Get your mind off them distraction
And shiny attraction
That help him get it crackin’
Like the Kraken.
But we ain’t gotta do no clashing
Like the fighting says.
Jesus’s blood gave us life
On how not to fight with him.
Only speak with life to him.
Only speak with might to him.
We might bend,
But we transcend
With Jesus’s blood we got the win.
So, yes, we can leave Satan blowing in the wind.
So, lift up Jesus’s name and keep on thanking him.
And when it comes to Satan, keep on spanking him.

That is, “I’m so thankful.” This very last one for today is called “Gun Clap.”
I want you all to feel me.
You feel me?
It’s vital,
Like gun violence is tidal,
Like a wave from the flood out the Bible.
God never sent this,
But meant for us to be the Ark
For those in the dark
And lack good seeds planted in their heart.
So, seek to numb the pain with a spark,
Or seek to cause the pain
With a spark from a gun
Bought from one of many big capitalist gun farms
Like Heckler & Koch.
But this practice is at the core
Of America’s selfish capitalistic heart,
And it will not stop,
Even if a fourth president is shot.
So, where do we turn?
How will we learn?
Well, in part, it’s our turn to sacrifice
The things for which we yearn.
To fellowship with gullible youth,
Or they learn to turn and burn their brother
Instead of learning to turn and sacrifice for one another.

That’s “Gun Clap.”
