This is Champagne Song from Solitary Confinement Johnson County Jail. We just had a pretty violent major use of force. They’ve gassed four or five times in the past month. They came in, deployed gas around 4:26 p.m. on 8/27 and they turned on a fan and it got the gas everywhere. It got me pretty bad. I couldn’t breathe. I was holding a towel to my face.
They came in with some heavily armored guards, a big crowd. They had some new equipment. They have a shock shield and a shock glove, like ICE is getting, and uh. AR-style pepper ball gun. They went up upstairs after gassing everyone, beat up the guy in there. They came back. They shot my neighbor in the head with the pepper ball gun. Yeah, just really violent, smiling faces. I think they were excited to use their new equipment. Saw fist bumping, smiles.
The lieutenant, Sullivan with the pepper ball gun seemed particularly excited, and just the escalating violence over the past month, the red tag prisoners, they don’t have a lot to lose. They’re on restrictions of everything, and it’s just getting worse and worse here. This is Champagne Song sentenced to 100 years for anti-fascism.
