Greetings. Hello, fellow travelers and all the beautiful Christian people. This is Faluch Bigsby, the author of God Uses Gangsters. Today I want to talk about misappropriation of funds. I want to talk about how the government utilizes our money and tax dollars. First, in the state of Ohio, they have something called the Correctional Institute Inspection Committee. They have been empowered by the government, in the General Assembly, in order to investigate anything in the prison. They want to make sure that things are correctly done. They want to make sure that stuff is done properly.
Now here’s the problem in the misappropriation of funds. They’ve empowered these people to investigate the prisons to make sure that everything’s done by policy and law; to make sure that there’s no civil rights violations, but they’ve given them absolutely no power. They mean absolutely nothing. They will document every violation, they will go into every prison, and they will cite and see that all these things have went wrong, and they will tell you, like, “Yes, this is against the law. This is wrong. They’re misspending our money here.” And they will write a report, and then the report goes into their office, and that’s it. They don’t change anything. They can’t correct any mistakes, and they can’t make anything different.
Now, Aramark. Aramark is who serves food in Ohio. Our tax dollars are given to ODRC [Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction] the director. She’s given a lot of money in order to feed inmates. Now, Aramark is given X amount of dollars. Here’s the problem. They’re telling taxpayers that they’re taking this certain amount, and they say, this is what this amount of money is for. Well, they’re only giving 80% of that to Aramark. They’re putting 20% of it in a slush fund, and it never goes properly towards the food and the things that it needs to go to towards the prisons.
Now, at the end of the year, any amount of money that wasn’t spent for Aramark, or for food or quality of food, then they get to give it out as bonus checks to the directors and all the CEOs and all the fat cats, so therefore they get extra money for just sitting there doing nothing, and it’s money that they’ve told the taxpayers is for our food. So those are two major things that are misappropriation of funds. I wanted everybody to know about that, because people in Ohio need to know what their tax dollars are doing: absolutely nothing whenever it comes to the prison system. Thank you.
