Hello, citizens. My name is Lakisha Norrington. I’ve called previously, and you’ve all heard previous messages from me concerning reports of the Indiana Department of Correction staff at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility being abusive, jeopardizing my health, my life and my safety. I’m calling right now to report to you all that staff did come and partially power wash the mold from only the vent of this room, but they didn’t get the curtilage around the vent. There is still mold around the vent, and every other area on the walls of this room that has mold on them, that had mold when they came on August 6th, 2026 to power wash the mold, is still there. They only got a little bit of the mold out of the door’s grate, and rather than them clean the entirety of the walls like they were supposed to do, they drew two penises and a scrotum on each on the wall above the exhaust vent and on the inside of the door’s grate with the power washer. That is very unacceptable. I’m sure the citizens now listening to this would agree.
Now, I hope that now that you hear, citizens, that the mold is still in this room and the officers intentionally refused to remediate the mold, and they’re giving me runarounds about remediating this mold out of this room, I would hope that you guys can call the commissioner, Lloyd Arnold, or the governor, Mike Braun, and report this matter to them, because they both are over every staff of the Indiana Department of Corrections. Now, those numbers are going straight to the Indiana Department of Corrections central offices, where you’ll have access to Lloyd Arnold, the Commissioner, as well as the Governor, Mike Braun. I hope and I ask you all, please call and give your opinions and your feelings about them leaving me in this room the way that they have, leaving me in a room of mold, that is laden with mold, and then drawing penises and scrotums on the wall [unclear] power washed rather than clean the mold that’s in this room that they were ordered to clean. That is totally unacceptable.
I am frustrated. I am irritated, and I’m sure you all hearing this abusive situation are just as frustrated and irritated as I am. I have filed complaints to IA about the situation. They told me it’s not an IA matter. IA, for those who do not know, is Internal Affairs. They said file a grievance. I filed an informal grievance on this tablet electronically, still pending, and I wrote to every warden that I could about the matter, all at the same time, as well as a couple caseworkers and coordinators about the entire situation, the scrotums and the penises and all. I hope, and I look forward to the citizens moving in full force on this situation. The more we move, the less these individual staff people and these collective staff people of the Indiana Department of Corrections can be abusive towards us; those of us that are locked up and those of us that are not locked up.
