Larry Stromberg

This is Larry Stromberg, and today I’m going to do a poem called, The One From End.

The One From End

Once had a friend from the planet known as End,
A time traveler from a galaxy light years away.
A strange farm creature at first glance,
Earthlings only saw him during his looking foe [unclear].
Fear overwhelmed the human race with hate and indifference,
Glaring at the one from End.
My alien companion was sent from the ruler of End to teach true love
For all the earth to know.
My friend preached on the importance of acceptance against all racism,
Standing there proud to be a purple, one eyed citizen from the place of End.

The angry, bitter, hateful mob mocked at the alien purple color of my friend.
Ugly haters yelled out, “Death to the freak of End!”
They tortured and murdered my dear friend,
Ripping the one from End limb to limb.
Gruesome sight to see. I screamed and mourned without end.
Then, from a lifeless corpse came a growing bright, purple,
Beaming laser light that illuminated over all the land.
The one from the planet End never died.
The powerful purple soul of royalty of my friend
Enlightened the whole earth with a beautiful glow.
All fell to their knees in shame, fear, and regret.
If one disobeyed the Great Ones’ law of love, his wrath, they would know.

In a flash, he beamed away back to the home of End.
Our planet changed for the better, for some time.
Hatred turned back to Earth once again.
Maybe it never left, and just stayed hidden in the darkness.
I await my great friend’s return as he promised.
To bring all hate to its final end.

This is Larry Stromberg, SCI Phoenix, in Pennsylvania. Thank you so much.
