Hi. This is Larry Stromberg, and today I’m going to be reciting my poem entitled
“Upstanding.”
Upstanding
An honest lawyer believes in liberty.
Stops at nothing to achieve the light
From the depths of darkness.
Complete integrity is expected,
Even amongst the chaos
Of the courtroom drama,
Cell elves increase the trauma,
Stealing every dollar
From those who lack law knowledge.
A trusted criminal attorney
Protects their clients
From the jaws of caged steel and death,
Encourages the families of the jailed,
Visits the incarcerated
With a word of hope.
Understands the background of the
Used, abused,
And the mental health confused.
Respectful legal representation
Wars for the innocents,
Of crimes not committed,
False accusations
And the evil of police brutality;
Investigates thoroughly
Through the waves of testimony,
Mountains of files.
Overturns every stone for the opportunity
Of freedom, exoneration
Against the system
That continues to incarcerate society
Into a prison world.
Good legal representation is a lifeguard
From drowning in the criminal justice system;
A guardian that never stops fighting
Is prepared for every battle.
He set the prisoner free
By being upstanding.
