Hey guys, it’s Steve again. I just wanted to just preface this poem with letting you know that when you hear the mention of the word PCAP, I explained this before, but it’s the Prisoner Creative Arts Program, from the University of Michigan. This is a song I did for our last final event that we did, our final performance that we did for our theater class. So that’s what that means. PCAP is Prisoner Creative Arts Program, so:
We grind light, we shine bright, we change lives.
That’s what PCAP inspires.
I said, we grind light, we shine bright, we change lives.
That’s what PCAP inspires.
People words collide.
The aftermath burns bright.
Our anger is right,
But don’t let the nines slide, young Minds.
Try to do what’s right.
Mesmerized minds believe lies.
Why they blind? I ain’t blind.
Open your eyes before you die.
Don’t be mesmerized by the wool pulled over your eyes.
What’s black, what’s white?
Color don’t exist in the creator’s eyes.
Me and Chewie, we two different guys,
But we the same kind in God’s eyes.
And I would die before I let him die,
If I had control of his life.
I ain’t got that much money,
But I can pray all day and all night, and I do.
And I’d do that for you too.
I’m old school, he new school,
So, you get schooled if you’ll believe this truth.
And I talk this talk on the stage, backstage, and in the booth,
Dying for truth.
That’s Jesus’s way, which might not pay today,
But I’m gonna have a payday in the heyday and change things.
Changing the game, like it’s trading,
And I’m the white Jay Z to see I’m flying high,
Like MJ by the shoes
To be gone in one day.
Man, this game is not for play.
Don’t pay for the game.
Pay attention to what I say.
See, we blind light. You shine bright. We changed lives.
That’s what PCAP inspires.
And PCAP, they stay strapped with love that outlast.
Love that blasts like gas, with firepower to cast out hate like trash.
Yeah, PCAP, they got big bags to handle that.
Like Miles with the smiles that saved so many lives
While Nova, hover over the ocean like a supernova.
Hannah stay fantastic. She ain’t bananas.
She a Big Booty master.
Sarah, Perry, the drama and carried us close
Like Mother Mary.
Who am I missing? Bryn.
Yes, she got that grin that win.
My Jewish friend, is chosen,
For giving grace to the broken.
Creative writing is my foundation,
And so I’m thankful for Stella,
Another stellar soldier
Chosen for giving hope.
And she brought along Aleefa
Her sweetness ain’t wrong,
Properly prepped in Chittagong,
Out of Bengal Bay.
And Coy, she ain’t coy today.
She’s brave like Biggie leaving New York City,
And I get 50 with people who fumble positions of princes
By peddling poisonous propaganda
For the prince with the darkest position.
And my prayers are pimping this program
Because I’m positioned and pumping like pistons that seem blocked,
Like Vinnie Johnson on the block,
Microwaving spots,
When he was popping shots,
Making trails hot for trailblazers.
But I’m showing love to PCAP trailblazers,
Who loving incarcerated,
Fighting to elevate us
To be the kings we were meant to be.
Royalty.
PCAP’s the truth.
PCAP’s the truth.
You know what it be?
Yeah, we grind light, we shine bright, we change lives.
And that’s what PCAP inspires.
That’s it, guys. Just one more little public service announcement, I guess. All those names I had mentioned were people who were in the class with us. And when I said, my friend Hannah is a “Big Booty” master, it’s not a derogatory comment. It’s a game we play, a theater game, called Big Booty. Look it up. The game is fun. It’s awesome. Play it with your friends. All right, everybody have a great day.
