Incarcerated people to be stripped of all humanity.
Incarcerated people to live in poor, unlivable conditions, in a six by eight, concrete and steel cell with no working water, no light, or a broken toilet.
Cells that flood sewage water.
Cells that have broken windows, so bugs, bats, rats, cats, spiders, and other rodents that have ingress to the cells frequently.
Broken windows that allow cold air through during the freezing temperature weather.
Incarcerated people to cook like bacon in a skillet during the summer weather.
Incarcerated people to die during the summer from heat exhaustion and other heat-related illnesses. Incarcerated people to be bullied, raped, humiliated, assaulted, starved, spit on, kicked, hacked, or worse, by employees of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Incarcerated women to give birth to a child while shackled and never seeing the child they held for nine months ever again.
Incarcerated people to be mistreated in every dehumanizing way known and unknown to mankind.
Texas prisons have stolen the life of your mother, father, daughter, son, uncle, aunt, cousin, wife, husband, best friend, fiance.
Some way, somehow, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice has taken from you. And if you don’t know someone or haven’t been impacted by the Texas prisons, you’re still a victim because the Texas prison stole your money. You have unknowingly funded abuse, torture, cruel and unusual dehumanization, and [stolen] the life of an innocent child. We need reform, protection, ethical conduct, and solidarity.
