Whatever happened to Obama?
Oh, tell me, please, Mama, whatever happened to Barack Obama?
They said he was so hated ‘cuz he see us liberated.
Well, there’s still no money in your purse, and since he was in office, things got worse.
The racists are more firmly in control,
In fact, they’ve gotten even more bold, truth be told.
They don’t even pretend to like us no more,
And now send everybody who’s got dark skin
Across the border, who even thinks of coming in.
It doesn’t matter whether legally or not,
If caught, they’re liable to be shot,
By white militias or the Border Patrol, can’t tell which is which, the truth be told.
I mean, he set the record for deportation
And increased poverty and the profit of corporations.
And here’s something I’ve got to mention, there are now more police lynchings.
Used to be called “justifiable homicide,”
But they don’t even bother now trying to justify it.
It’s a return to generations past, The New Jim Crow, the die is cast.
And they’re rolling back Civil Rights, claiming it discriminates against whites
And the Democrats are quiet as a mouse while a Nazi sits in the White House.
Actually, it’s all just a game: Democrat or Republican are both the same.
Every few years, administrations may switch; they all work for and serve the rich.
But, we still ain’t learned the lesson: dark faces in high places, just window dressing.
He gave us a temporary high, like dope, with his lies about creating hope.
He ain’t do nothing for me or you, like Uncle Tom, he’s something new.
He claimed racism was no longer around, even after they lynched Mike Brown.
Left Black folks in a much worse place, a house N***** singing “Amazing Grace”.
