Tell Warden Damean Stewart that he must reinstate Peter Mukuria’s job

Comrade Pitt aka Peter Mukuria filed an appeal of disciplinary case #2025-006 over a month ago. As a result of the case, he lost his visitation days, good time and job placement. Per DPSCS policy, Warden Damean Stewart was required to respond to the appeal within 30 days. That time has come and gone and Pitt’s due process rights have continually been violated!

In the last week, Pitt’s visitation days and good time were reinstated. But he still has not received his job placement back. This is unacceptable! We ask that you join us in calling on Warden Damean Stewart to reinstate Pitt’s job. See a sample script below:

Sample script:

“I am calling/emailing on behalf of Peter Mukuria #519493. My name is _________ and I ask on behalf of Mr. Mukuria that the disciplinary infraction in question be vacated and he be allowed to retain all he has lost, especially since his constitutionally protected rights have been violated. His job must be reinstated.”

About Comrade Pitt

Peter Mukuria, better known by the nickname Pitt, is currently located at Jessup Correctional Institution , formerly at Interstate Compact-Facility and Red Onion State Prison. While imprisoned, he vocalizes the blatant racism that takes place in his correctional facility: he has been threatened, and denied proper facilities like access to water and haircut service offered to white inmates.

Pitt was born in Nairobi, Kenya and is currently the Minister of Labor for the Revolutionary Intercommunal Black Panther Party (RIBPP). He is also on the steering committee with the Incarcerated Workers of the World Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee (IWW/IWOC). Pitt writes on a variety of topics, from abolition to the COVID-19 pandemic and more. Mukuria’s work was featured in the renowned performance piece On the Eve of Abolition, imagining a future beyond abolition. Comrade Pitt is also featured on the newest Prison Radio Special Collections release On Red Onion, recounting the egregious mistreatment taking place at the facility.
