Dear Friend,
Mumia Abu-Jamal reminds us that, while disbelief and despair are natural, it’s time to “dry your tears, blow your noses, and join movements of resistance to this madness.” Mumia’s post Trump election essay from 2016 resonates today with the same clarity.
As we face the reality of another Trump presidency, there’s been “wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
For Black America, there has never been a time when resistance wasn’t necessary—even during life under a Black president. Mumia speaks from a long tradition of struggle, echoing Frederick Douglass’ famous words: “If there is no struggle, there is no progress… Power concedes nothing without demand.” This moment in history, like so many before it, calls for unified, relentless action.
Prison Radio has been amplifying voices like Mumia’s for over three decades, bringing the perspectives of those behind bars to the heart and minds of the public. We’re here to make sure that, even in times like these, the voices of the oppressed are not silenced or forgotten.
Mumia’s message is clear: “Let us struggle. Let us build movements that lift our hearts. Let us remake our history with the brick and mortar of struggle.”
Join us in amplifying these vital voices. Together, we can resist, demand justice, and forge a path toward liberation. We need your support to continue bringing Mumia’s voice—and countless others’—into the movement.
