Shaka Zulu

Our Minister of Information has died. Ali Shaka, we love you. Ali Shaka was a great man, a revolutionary of the finest quality. We knew Ali Shaka as one of those elder Panthers that did not quit being a Panther when Comrade Huey closed the doors to the Oakland chapter in 1981. For many years, he stood alone, forgotten by the Panther movement. But he did not complain, nor did he carry animosity.

To him, the Panther movement was in the prison cell, the library, the security housing units, the prison yards—where he continued to teach and organize political education classes. To Ali Shaka, the Panther movement was where oppression and repression was most raw—in the prisons.

Our Minister of Information has passed over. He was a great comrade, and we at the New Afrikan Black Panther Party will miss him deeply. So long comrade. Job well done. We’ll never forget you. Dare to struggle, dare to win. Panther Love. All power to the people. This is Chairman Shaka Zulu.
