Hi, it’s Larry Stromberg, SCI Phoenix in Pennsylvania. This is my poem entitled, “Aging in Prison.”
Aging in Prison
Sentenced to life.
Decades fly by swiftly.
Write up free.
Program compliant,
Education completed.
Excellent block reports and work performances.
Staying close to the divine,
Maintaining my mental health decades in,
Working out is a form of therapy.
With all that, I’m still aging in prison.
Fighting in the courts and commutation for my freedom.
Some make it back home,
Many die around me.
There’s a chance I could die here.
I’m still fighting, believing, hoping, and praying,
The unknown of it all.
The future will reveal what the final outcome will be.
