Hey, my name is Carl Boards. I’m a pretrial detainee in the state of Indiana. I’m facing a capital murder case, and I have received injustice after injustice after injustice, even up until April the 26th, 2025, I received attempt on my life at the Miami Correctional Center — I mean at the Miami Correctional Facility, here in Indiana. that was perpetuated by the prosecutor, Rodney Cummings. I am asking for awareness to be brought to this, cause this is being covered up. Since my arrest, I’ve been constantly placed in Seg.I’ve been made to sleep without a mat. I’ve been denied recreation. I’ve been denied — as a pretrial detainee I have more rights than convicted prisoners, but I have received less rights than convicted prisoners. I am asking that awareness be brought to my situation, and I’m asking that you reach out and contact anyone that could be a resource to bring awareness of injustice that’s going on in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
As a pretrial detainee, I was placed at a facility that I did not request, and my lawyers actually misrepresented me and stated that I did request this, against my wishes. And I constantly have told my lawyers about attempts on my life, and they have made no-—they have not even considered it. I am asking for awareness to be brought to the fact that I’m in a Klan state, and my capital murder charge is out of Elwood, Indiana, a place notorious for the Ku Klux Klan, and that they have attempted to assassinate me before my trial, the same way that happened to Thomas Shipp and Abraham Smith in 1930 in Marion, Indiana; 95 years ago still facing the same injustices and the same struggles.
