This is Rowan Gibson, one of the Prairieland Defendants. Please go to prairielanddefendants.com. I have another untitled poem.
Caged songbirds gaze out at their bloody, broken friends.
Boots stomp their fragile bodies into the earth.
Gloved hands stroke hawks heads in praise of all this death.
The songbirds cry out to each other,
To their family on the earth.
Hands slam the bars,
And hawks leer in
As human voices shout commands for silence,
Laugh and brag to each other how much money each little bird will make them
As each one continues to sing.
