Prison Radio
Karen Brown

I’d like to share a small poem I wrote today. Here goes —

Looking ahead, time seems steep.
Sadness rises to the sky,
But with your prayers and support,
Sometimes it seems only half high.
I worry of dying here,
But then I slow down and hesitate.
With people backing me,
My burdens become less great.
I thank you for listening and fighting,
Whether a minute, an hour, or day.
Having your ear and your support
Easier grows my way.
The hope I take into tomorrow,
They seem to brighten my blues of today.
I have things to look forward to along my daily way.
So, in my tomorrow I hope I’ll find your support there,
Because your efforts and advocacy for prison reform
Lift me from despair.

And that’s just a small prose I wanted to share today, and this is Karen, saying thank you to all the advocates out there, and to all the avenues where our voices are being heard, and everybody that fights for prison reform, whether it be issues on the inside or out. We are very appreciative of you giving us a human voice and knowing that our life matters, thank you.
