This is Kenneth Lee Tebu Abu Saba Taylor reciting a poem from the National Library of Poetry that I won. It was also was published in the book named Windows of the Soul, and it made a cassette out of. Name of this poem is “Did You Know Immorality Is Jail and Prisons of our Souls?”
Everybody’s talking s**t ’bout who went to jail
And how so and so could not be released on bail.
Did you know immorality is jail and prisons of our souls?
Every one is talking about the new three strikes
And you are outlawed, without any doubts,
Then you know immorality is jail and prisons of our souls.
A lot of folks were saying, crime don’t pay,
But some thought they were sharp enough to get away.
Did you know immorality is jail and prisons of our souls?
I saw a brother in the hood
Talking about he “would always be up to no good”.
Did you know immorality is jail and prisons of our souls?
You have kids and children of this day
Saying wrong is the only way to get our pay.
Did you know immorality is jail and prison of our souls?
Most righteous people of today
Think jail and prison is the only way
To keep people at bay.
Did you know immorality is jail and prison of our souls?
The lawmakers say we must make tougher laws
To make our life and land safe for any cause.
Although they are breeding men’s and women’s
With bitter hate that can’t wait to get an even slate.
Would you think if the clock stood still
How many lives jails and prisons has destroyed and killed?
Did you know immorality is jail and prisons of our souls?
Someone said we must make this a better place to live,
But as of yet, it’s just a better place to get killed.
But if you truly want a better place to live,
Our legal system must instill
The only thing that’s real
Through death, torment, agony, and distress;
We must confess the USA is in still a big mess.
But until we learn to instill the only God that is real,
God will allow this world to be ill.
