Larry Stromberg, from SCI Phoenix, and I’m going to perform, read my poem called “Prison Shell Shock.”
Prison Shell Shock
Guilty and broken,
Freezing trauma.
I’ve been locked away for decades.
Some say I deserve the chains
Which hang heavy on my soul,
Heavy price to pay for my sins.
I lost everything I ever loved,
All gone forever in this life,
Wallowing in tears of sorrow,
Remorse and regret
Yeah, it’s prison shell shock.
Searching for saving grace,
That saving peace.
Accountability has consumed my demeanor,
Controlled my mind.
Forgiveness is in my heart,
Never to harm again,
Ever again.
Sleep takes me away from the chaotic agony,
Redemption dreamland.
Dreaming for the mercy of second chances,
Away from the prison shell shock.
Thank you. Peace and blessings. Larry Stromberg, SCI Phoenix.
