This is Larry Stromberg, SCI Phoenix, in Pennsylvania. This is my poem entitled “Sojourner.”
Through the worst actions of my life,
Actions given,
Actions taken,
Given again and again,
Taken again and again,
A destiny of remorse has prevailed
For reasons I’ll never understand.
Why has prison become my destiny?
Believing prison be my future destiny someday,
Or is this my fate indeed?
I hope and fight for a second chance at redemption,
Trying to change a narrative as a sojourner,
Temporary dweller in this life,
To the good and the bad blessings,
The evil that lingers on.
One is not the worst moment of their lives.
Good people have made horrible choices with heavy consequences.
That moment can be never changed, sadly to say.
So, the future can establish a legacy of goodness,
Helping the lost, abused, used, confused and the hurting
To find their way as a sojourner, in which we all are.
You see, we are all sojourners.
So, the sojourner legacy account for something good;
A legacy of goodness and a legacy of love.
Larry Stromberg, SCI Phoenix. Thank you so much.
