Support PCAP, Prisoner Creative Arts Program in University of Michigan. This is a poem, a reading I’m going to call it, from a song that is not completed. I’m gonna call this poem “Stars.”
Let me regress from progress, i.e., like my typical cryptic diction, as I put on display, yet filet, the corrupted correction system in Michigan.
When COVID hit them, more dope than ever infiltrated in. They couldn’t blame the visiting, our people couldn’t get in. Damn, they barely still can. Damn, here’s another scam.
Damn! Let me vent if I can, I don’t mean to complain, but damn! We have a fund to benefit prisoners, but, man, it needs a financial plan with checks and balancing.
Attempts to procure to alleviate our hurt don’t even work. We try to do right. They tell us we wrong or we submitted something wrong. We need a formal request, man. It’s the same old song.
So, if they right and we ain’t right, but their conduct is going left while we try to do our best. What’s left? See, they want us to stress and lose our heads and bust some heads to give them fuel for their fire, to incorporate desire and inspire new hires.
Because it’s the system that’s a lifer.
Chains on our neck so damn big like a donkey chain from Big Daddy Kane and I, gotta spit in this vein of thinking, even at the detriment of pulling my feet from cement and getting sent way up like Marquette,
‘Cause you must bet, when you dip that pen and get it real wet and expose this pen for their malfeasance, you may end up with a win, but someone’s getting did in, and that’s just the way the game goes.
Cookie crumbling, fighting crooked government, even though I’m heaven sent from Jesus’ commitment, this world’s an ugly place like in hella grace.
Sometimes we got to turn away our plate, even if it’s __er and they put it in your face. My dogs embrace the race. See that rabbit, now go grab it.
