Larry Stromberg

This is Larry Stromberg, I’m going to be doing my new poem called “The Ringing.” And the poem deals with the aspects of trying to forgive yourself, even with having a long-term incarceration sentence. So, “The Ringing.”

Renew me this night in the depths of sleep,
Free my dreams of the unknown.
Safeguard this time of resting, O God.
Enfold me in the darkness of the night.
Celtic Benediction.
The ringing.
The ringing is loud,
Drowning fast in the vomit.
Forgive me, starlights.
Banging of the soul,
Crying in the hurricane,
Heartbroken ruins.
Yes, I stand all alone,
Gasping for a second chance.
Redemptive, praying.
Remorse,
Sincere remorse.
But, I can still hear the ringing,
Sometimes.
I still hear the ringing.

Yeah, the poem is about, like I said, forgiving ourselves. And that’s something I’ve been trying to do for the last 29 years, 29 years of my incarceration. And yeah, forgiving myself. This is Larry Stromberg, thank you and have a good night. God bless.
