Hello, everybody. This is Stephen Lynn Nicholson here again in Jackson, Michigan. As always, support prisonradio.org. Support the Prisoner Creative Arts Project in the University of Michigan, two great organizations that do things for us that nobody else does that I know of. So, it’s so important to get our voices out there. Thank you.
This is the installment number two to my whole “Water” poem that I’m doing a series of poems. You can go listen to “Water,” the original “Water,” to you know hear my intro to it. So. this is part number two.
First topic: Psychosomatic dynamics of water usage.
The hippo bellows as dehydration mellows
Its brain from comforting things.
Another inmate in the USA defecates as realization fades
That the running water in the sink is such a waste.
Some have obtained this knowledge,
But the minds become a waste of knowledge
When angst takes place of common kindness.
Mental blindness is part of this psyching out
From what contrives us to drown life forms lifeless
Without conspiring a specific intent,
Because we are so intent,
Even hell bent on moving from the wildness of the tent
To Comfort Inn bed and breakfast-like requests.
At our behest, the sands of time drown out forms of life
As the sound of rushing water down dirty pipes will ease the mind
For the urine to flow from the pipes
As an abundance are in the fight of life just to have a drink tonight.
I ain’t talking club life in Dubai
Where they pipe the sand as foundation for cities with many men,
Cheapened weekends where life forms transform to cretins,
And we wonder why this world supply is weakened.
What am I meaning?
Water or us being decent?
Well, when the peace of Jesus
Is springing rivers of living water from the bellies of believers,
I’d say these things carry equivalents.
Water-cooled nuclear fusion plants remind me of how our brains exist.
The twist is in.
The fix is in.
Fissures opened again.
And tectonic activity has blown again.
The ring of fire is opening.
Oceans of sin.
Despite all of this water flowing, death begins.
Yet here we sit, wasting water
Because of overactive bladder
Or lack of recognition as we scour molars and sizers losing enamel,
Protection squandered.
We need the hump of a camel.
Let’s look to polish our acts of squalor.
Let’s save our water.
This next prompt or topic or question is just simply stated: Historic Water.
Like the last gap of an old regime,
We’d be ignoring history,
Access quickly to the precipice of defeat
If we subdue the truth of our problems with water.
On the verge to fall harder than Napoleon Bonaparte.
Hey, his troops were slaughtered by the Brits and Prussia,
Cause he thought he was smarter.
But he goofed, and like history’s gumshoe,
I present truth for you to choose to avoid Earth’s own Waterloo.
Deserts and famine are the sneak preview of water’s residue, ‘
Cause we sent it to Timbuktu.
So, don’t let death dumbfound you when it sneak upon you
Like peekaboo.
We got damn dams everywhere.
Hydropower’s cool ’cause it’s better than fossil fuel, which pollutes.
But who cares?
Man’s misuse of water by making power
Destroys ecosystems with water.
Ain’t that something?
Yeah, something like embryonic, symbiotic slaughter.
Are we Nazi’s, Germans now?
Germinal with complacence, adjacent to destruction in utero.
Can we ever get out?
That reminds me about bouts with my father,
Locked in my room for hours
because I did whine and pout about what they put out on dinner’s table.
So, I learned about crackers and water.
Crackers and water.
I learned to make this for my father
Instead of playing a part of eating our dinner,
Dad’s dish which consists of beef,
Frank’s, pork and beans and ground beef.
Poor mother conceived me, cooked for me.
I wouldn’t eat.
It seemed to be I wanted crackers and water.
I complained harder and this was the starter
For me to learn the recipe for crackers and water.
Crackers and water ain’t its recipe.
Most cookbooks are without it.
Knucklehead, yeah,
My head got harder, and that recipe,
Most young knees got it.
Do you got it?
The recipe, I mean,
Constituted thusly:
Be your saboteur,
Ignore your mother,
Piss off your father,
And if he ain’t a comforter,
You gonna learn how to get crackers and water.
Or read some proverbs.
Watch over your ability to mature
And earn a thermometer to read family temperature,
And not only have you learned how to get crackers and water,
But appreciations gaining for this nutrition maintaining,
Life learning situation.
See, you can be –
I can be sustainable crackers and water.
This simple experiential proverb that I have been through can reveal to you
We should revel in the fact that lack of water is not trivial.
Ask the Flint survivor.
Turbidity and lead levels and other chemicals
That I don’t have enough of a resource to research more for
Because this U.S. justice system is washing over men,
Restricting them like this report of absurdity
From Michigan’s authority,
Which sounded more like a science fiction yarn with bad actors,
Like a bad porn.
Excuses, well worn.
Historic levels of immature.
Water?
Life giving?
