Hi, my name is Travis Eugene Williams, an inmate currently housed at Red Onion State Prison in the state of Virginia. I’m reaching out to the public to establish awareness regarding the power of falsified prison staff testimony and reporting and the very much needed means to challenge it and bring it to an end.
Upon my arrival at Red Onion State Prison, I was subjected to a lot of ill treatment by staff who didn’t want to let inmates out for their basic privileges of park recreation and showers and stuff like that. And what they were doing were putting the cuffs on us very tight, inflicting a lot of other ill treatment upon us. They made me kneel on several occasions, because I spoke out and wrote complaints to try to correct the matter, and all that done was brought about retaliation, of which they continue to lie about, and just deny with the power of falsified testimony; and had the support from a facility level all the way up to the Regional Ombudsman level, of which they just denied the claims and just supported the falsified officer’s testimony.
At that point, pushing forward to want to make about change, as seeing all of the things that I’ve been through, and everything that I witnessed other inmates, I established a bill that I believe will help nationwide on a state level and federal level for those incarcerated and the family of the loved ones of those who are incarcerated. That bill is Truth in Prison Staff and Administrative Reporting Act. What that bill will accomplish and establish is a means for individuals incarcerated, as well as their loved ones, to be able to challenge falsified officers testimony and bring it to an end.
