My name is Zohnpierre Perkins. I’m a 28-year-old black activist at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility.
And I would like to say what the word that ends up. On May 25th of this year, a cat named Vogtschild asked me to check my shirt. I checked the front part, but a key for the back was still hanging out. The next morning, May 26th at 8:00 a.m. in the morning, the COs came to my cell searching me down and they did it for about 40 minutes and told me and my fellow Trotter that they didn’t find nothing but some trash being left.
My fellow Trotter went to work at 9:00 a.m. like normal. At 11:25, they bring my fellow Trotter back in handcuffs, talking about, we were to be isolated in ourselves because a weapon was found. Me and my fellow Trotter, the floor officers, and our counselors were confused about this latest development, because we were told earlier that we was okay.
The next morning we sent a fellow inmate to go out, investigate the situation and see what was going on. The captain Vogtschild told that inmate that he was out to get me because actually I disrespected him by not checking my shirt all the way. So [inaudible] having a conversation with me, he put a weapon on me, which is an outside case, six months and lock up a year of me not being able to get in any programs or get a job, and it’s going to push my out date back further.
This is just one of the many reasons that prisons need to be abolished. It is a corrupt institution that’s meant to break us mentally and spiritually and is not put in place to rehabilitate, and I encourage anybody listening to this call to call down here at 812-398-5050 and call out that captain on him being unprofessional, because if he will do it to me, think about the many people who are gonna come after me. They’re going to be faced with the same thing. We’ve got to make a stance and shed a light on corruption when we see it.
If anybody want to send me letters of support again, my name is Zohnpierre Perkins. My BOC number 150324. I’m at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, address 6908 S Old US Highway 41, Carlisle, IN 47838, or you can contact me via GTL. Thank you. Thank you all for listening.
