Okay. My name is Marcia Graham. My prison number is 849136.
I’m calling today because another fellow person here, Jackson, gave us all the number or whatever to call and inform you all about what’s going on in the prison. And basically, they trying to get the number blocked because all of the prisoners are calling some of y’all that it’s still mold adn scabies.
They still feeding us trash. The sergeants today, Smith, one of the inmates on the radio the other day and was like, “Oh, so what y’all gonna do, keep calling the radio station on us?” and blah, blah, blah. So now, people are getting kind of scared to call because they talking about issuing out punishment for calling y’all, and it’s not fair to us because the only thing is we just want our voices to be heard and explain what’s going on in the prison.
My perspective on the situation with the mold, so they call them like the day before at nighttime, and then they have all of these people clean the showers. They come with the sandblaster and blast the showers so they can hide the mold. And then after a couple of days, It’s basically like the sandblaster turns the shower the color of whatever the shower is. And then after a couple of days, it wears off. If you, you know, scrub it or whatever. And then the mold is back.
With the sexual harassment, I mean, they say stuff every day, all day. I’ve never been a part of it, but I know several people who have, and it’s the same as it was before, like nothing has changed in here.
And like I said today, in the chow hall where we eat our food, the sergeant was, his name is Smith was like, “Oh, so y’all going to call the radio station on us” and blah, blah, blah. So they are aware and they hear us speaking out, but at the same time we do need to be heard and something needs to be done because this is not fair to us.
We living in quarantine units. When the COVID happened, they put us in this unit called [inaudible that [inaudible] shut down. And the ceiling was out in the day room. The showers were cold. It was roaches and maggots in the shower buckets. No, it was basically like no privacy. People shower water like that was in the other shower was getting on you. And they didn’t do nothing.
We told them several times we was getting cold food. Sometimes we didn’t get our food until 10 o’clock at night. And that’s not fair to us.
They treat us like we animals in here when we human too. Yeah. I just, like, for anybody that is listening to us, like, we really need some type of help. You know what I’m saying? Because we made a mistake, but at the same time we human. They treat us like we animals in here. They yell at us like we too. And it’s not right. And if we do anything to try to help ourselves, we get in trouble. If we call y’all, we get in trouble. They say stuff because they mad that everybody’s speaking out about the situation. And that’s not right.
