The writ of habeas corpus is the most precious gift that exists in this criminal justice system. The writ of habeas corpus is our individual key to that freedom. And the politicians have so whittled it down. Let me put it to you this way. If we should see on the evening news, that the bank where we’ve been keeping our life savings had just been held up, what will we do? We’ll holler bloody murder. I mean we’ll do everything we can to catch that thief and get our money back. You know what I mean? Because we’re not complacent about it. We know that a theft has occurred. But, why is it the people of the United States today, raising up in outrage that our freedom account is being looted. And so, people must understand not only that the writ of habeas corpus is not just a piece of paper, but it was the key to my freedom. You know, the key that Mumia’s Abu-Jamal needs right now. And the only way that we will be able to get that we must make the price so high that it’d be impossible to kill this man.
