Prison Radio is the platform that brings one of the great incarcerated intellectual voices to the airwaves. Prison Radio is not just his publishing platform, it also functions as a living archive of his work. This important voice must not be silenced.

When the Prairieland defendants were sentenced to 30, 70, 100 years…we were standing ready at the phone line to connect them to the world.
Train the next generation of movement media makers.
Our summer internship program and volunteer program are invaluable. We invest in young people and emerging organizers who are learning how to use media, storytelling, political education, and communications as tools for liberation. While these young people often volunteer their time and service, it still takes our resources and time to train them.
Support political education.
Prison Radio takes political education seriously! Every summer we run an inside/outside reading group. Incorporating folks inside is hard and costly, but necessary. We are dedicated to learning from those inside and giving our interns and staff experiences that help us understand incarceration, abolition, state repression, Black radical thought, and movement history.
Fuel the trips to prison.
Our ability to get inside, record, visit, listen, and bring these voices back out depends on travel. $650/month in gas, food canteen cards, and tolls. $178 dollars a trip, even with our fantastic 2019 Prius (thanks to my mom Joan Hanrahan for helping us get that) that gets 50 miles a gallon.
