I am Sister Helen Prejean. I wrote the book Dead Man Walking. For me, Mumia is a dramatic example of how the criminal justice system can be brought to bear on someone who is African-American, articulate, involved in change in society. The system’s threatened by someone like Mumia because he resists the racism and because he had such a voice. A voice as strong as his and is truthful, the repression against him is intensified.
