Raymond Eugene Jenkins

Hi. This is Raymond Jenkins calling from Corcoran State Prison and today is November the 24th. It’s the Thanksgiving month. I know Thanksgiving is Thursday, so inmates and prisoners wanted to wish everybody a happy Thanksgiving and a safe Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is about giving and thanks to people that have really been there for you and support you and been there by your side. It’s not time to be selfish. It’s time to give, and give and forget the people that have done you wrong.

Sometimes you have to be thankful for that you made it through and be able to forgive them. We talking about forgiving. In the prison system we do forgive things in here, that we be thankful for our family. We forgive that young man’s in here that do something wrong to us, you know, disappoint us, but we be thankful for that. They are learning how to be better than they were. They are learning not to be selfish. They are learning how to give without always receiving. So, we are learning so much when it comes to thankful for and Thanksgiving.Thanksgiving is for families to be able to get together and to love one another and don’t be afraid to share things that you were scared to share at first. If it’s a time to really share things together and to be together and to show appreciation to people that are really out there for you. It’s not time to bitter and be mad, because, you know it, we go through a lot every year, and we see it, so sometimes you have to be thankful for that you are living, that you survive this Thanksgiving, and it’s better for this Thanksgiving than it was last Thanksgiving.

And just main thing is just be you, be yourself, and love each other more than you ever did, because you know you only have one life. We know that if you’re bad out there and as us being prisoner, we see it on the news, and we thank for that we are not in that mess. We thank for that we are coming home and we are going to be able to survive and be able to contribute to make it better. And that’s one thing that I wanted to say, that we pray for everybody out there. Pray that you have a good Thanksgiving and be with your family and know that we are thinking about you much as you’re thinking about us. We pray for you much as you pray for us. So, with that said, my whole thing is not gonna waste up too much time.
