Hi, this is Mr. Jenkins from Corcoran State Prison. Today is April the 7th, 2026. Today’s topic is What is Easter?
Easter is a celebration of people to be able to enjoy theyself, to enjoy they families, to enjoy a spring going through summer. In the prison systems, we enjoy Easter [unclear] each other as families. A lot of guys doesn’t believe in Easter because of they religion. We believe in the belief, we believe that Easter is fun, and it’s us children, but I think we take it too far on certain issues. I think that we just really celebrate what it’s all about, Easter. I think we go overboard. I think that we look at it different than it original was. And I think that we should be able to look at Easter as the minors or the children holiday. It’s not about the dark holiday, it’s the children’s holidays.
And I think we take the fun out of Easter when they Easter hunt, Easter egg hunt, Easter basket. We don’t see a lot of that out there now, because people are afraid to enjoy Easter with the family at the park or at church because she doesn’t know what to expect when people go do something silly or stupid in a church in Easter. We need to kind of look at things different. And we need to kind of value and accept things as what it is. I’m saying this because Easter is a lot. It’s important to children and some families, and we doesn’t embody that like we should. And I think that once we just realize what is these things all about, then maybe we could bring it back the way original should be.
And on the way of that, I want to say I enjoy talking to ya’ll, making comments on it. I am 68 days away from being paroled. My birthday is this coming Thursday. I have no problem saying my age, it’s 65 years old. And with that point, I enjoy being, appreciation celebrating Easter as my 65 year age approaches and my release day is approaching. I wanted everybody to really relax and know that a good person is coming out, not a bad person, and I’m going to do whatever I can for the community to help to show that everybody in prison is not bad.
