On a move, Long live John Africa. Kudos and welcome to representatives of the Venezuelan government under the bold leadership of Presidente Hugo Chavez and the brave Venezuelan people. It is a brutal testament of our times that the Venezuelan Government, with its generosity and solidarity to Black, Latino and poor communities in offering gas and home heating oil at affordable prices, is more supportive and more humane than the U.S. government.
The U.S. government sent guns and soldiers to protect property in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and left people to starve and die. Brave little Cuba offered hundreds of doctors and her sister state, Venezuela, offered oil and other humane aid. To them both, we must say, “Muchas gracias mi amigos,” and “Venceremos,” to the people of both lands as they resist this empire of greed and war. Venceremos to the Bolivarian revolution in Venezuela, and may it spread the fire of resistance far and wide. Gracias. On the move. Long live John Africa. Venceremos. This is Mumia Abu-Jamal from death row.
