My inmate number is ND7568. I’m gonna call this recording “Politicians Re-running.” This is Kenjuan Congo, Jr. calling from a prison camp behind enemy lines.

I had a conversation with Ali about politicians and politics in general. And one of my problems right now is that when a politician runs for office, they do a campaign. In the campaign, they tell a bunch of promises, I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that. Then when they get in office, they don’t keep their word.

But my thinking is, when they re-run, they don’t have to earn their party’s nominee, they just automatically re-run. So they’re not hold- they’re not held responsible. So it’s like, there’s no accountability.

See, my thing is, if a politician runs a campaign, say for instance on education, when they get in office, if they don’t keep their word, if they want to rerun, they should earn that party’s nomination all over again. They have to earn their party’s nominee, not just have it automatically. And if they just can have it automatically, there’s no way to be held accountable.

So for instance, say like if a Democrat, they run a campaign on abortion rights, then they get in office and they don’t keep their word. Instead of that candidate just having the Democratic nominee, they’d have to earn a nomination all over again. Same with the Republican party or any other political party.

If a candidate does not keep their word, they should have to earn their party’s nomination all over again, and not just have it automatically. And I think that’s what should happen so there could be better accountability.
