My friends, I thank you for your contributions to the Artbook. Thank you contributors and
publisher. Art is that which makes us human, I always say, because it’s the sharing of our deeper inner selves with each other. Art shows us each other’s dreams and even our nightmares. Consider Picasso’s
Guernica, for example. The horror there is universal because it’s the horror of war, an aching
horrifically human, and therein lies its power. Art, being art, can serve many masters. But when it serves human liberation, when it serves freedom, it shines. I thank you, my French friends, for shining in this work.
