“Trent’s Freedom Walk.”
His formal name is Larry Trent Roberts, but most people know him as Trent. Since 2007, most of those who knew him were Pennsylvania prisoners, for since then, Trent was doing a life sentence following a murder conviction for the 2005 killing of 26 year old, [[inaudible]] Stern while he sat in his car at 20th and [[inaudible]] streets, Harrisburg.
In 2017, local judge Scott A. Evans found evidence was withheld from Trent’s defense lawyer, and a new trial was ordered. In early September, that trial got underway, and after six days, the jury deliberated and returned a verdict of not guilty.
After 13 years in prison, Trent left [inaudible] county courtroom to return to his family. In the courtroom, his mother and other family and friends wept with joy at his acquittal.
Outside the Harrisburg courthouse. Trent told one reporter: “There is nothing worse than being innocent in jail.”
