Zimbabwe joined the No More Death Row Movement. The southern African nation of Zimbabwe, formerly known as Rhodesia under Britain’s colonial rule, has recently done something remarkable. The nation of some 14 and a half million people announced that ithas abolished the death penalty. Some 60 souls languished on Zimbabwe’s death row. They are now on the grip of going out of solitary confinement into population, I presume. I learned this while listening to the radio recently. Reportedly, Amnesty International made the request to the nation, and government spokesmen said they had been wanting to do that in the first place. Things, I think, are changing after all. With love, not fear, this is Mumia Abu Jamal.
