Prison Radio
Spoon Jackson

Formerly I was of Uncuffed, original Uncuffed: Solano State Prison, and we are under transformation right now, and there’s a new radio podcast getting ready to come online called Navigating Freedom. And I’m looking for help to write and produce and do an introduction announcement on our new podcast. So, if anybody interested, they could contact me.

Coming soon is the original members of the award-winning podcast Uncuffed, have taken this style to the next level with their new podcast: Navigating Freedom. Spoon Jackson, Deny The Realness, Matthew the King of the Universe Schneeman, Lisa Chipman Strong, Julian Gwin [sp?] the Actor Pageant, Bryan the Cork Mazza, and Dámon the Real Nomad Cooke.  Those are the core members of the new Navigating Freedom and we are looking, like I said, for some people to, especially some college kids, to come on board, so that we could do fundraisers and, you know, sell some popcorn. Freedom of the minds, freedom of the soul, freedom of the spirit, and physical freedom for the people left behind in prison.

Seem like there’s a lot of lip service to doing something for a lot of people in California prisons with this super Democratic majority here, but they don’t- advocates don’t want to do anything. They got people serving, that have served for more years that are being treated inhumanely by the amount of time they’re doing. And the legislature just had an opportunity with the numerous bills to reverse this travesty of justice and this travesty of inhumanity, but they chose not to.

They chose to be Gray Davis Democrats, instead of being human. Instead of being human people that see other folks that have made mistakes, but turned themselves around and trying to do better. This podcast, the original Uncuffed, was supported by the director of rehabilitation programs in California and the California Arts Council. It was supported by the Jack – Justice Art Coalition, which I am on a board member, and, it was supported by my friends and people over there in Sweden and elsewhere in the world.

We’re taking this show on the road with a fresh look at how men and women are navigating freedom once they are released. And if anyone wants to be a part of this project, want to help out, please let us know. And I’m looking for interesting people to interview over the phone, and I’ll share – give you a beautiful mountain drawing on the envelope if you are interested. And that’s free.  All the real things, all the beautiful things in life are free anyway. So, thanks to Prison Radio, and thanks for offering to help us launch this new project of the original, award-winning cast of Uncuffed.
