Yeah, hi, this is Mr. Jenkins from Corcoran State Prison. And today’s topic would be, “How Do You Rate Yourself?” that’s “R-A-T-E Yourself.” And the reason why I picked this is because a lot of prisoners inside the prison system have a low rating—that they low rate theyself real low, even out there in society, a lot of them rate the real low. So, do you rate yourself from a scale from one to 100? Do you rate yourself from—Like we said, what if you’re from one to 10? What is your—We say that—what is your—How do you rate yourself? What did you think yourself is at? The percentage of yourself? Is it like fifty-five percent? One hundred percent? Ten percent? On a scale of one to 10, how do you look at yourself and say, ‘I rate myself high?’ Or do you rate yourself low? Do you put yourself up when you know that you are not doing the thing that you need to be doing to rate yourself? Do other people rate you to put on a scale of one to 10? So, how do you find out how do your mind rate yourself? Do you think that you ever thought about that?
In the prison, in the prison system a lot of prisoner do rate theyself, what we call how to how to rate yourself, what to look for, and how to know that your rate is up or down. It’s like the blood pressure, it goes up and it goes down. So rating yourself, it’s the same thing. One day, you rate yourself, and you doing good; the next day you rate yourself, you doing bad. So, do we have a formula that you know that “Hey, I can rate myself. This is what I did today. And I rated myself and I was good. Or this is what I did bad today. This is what I did around other people. This is what I did around, as being myself.”
So, sometimes we take a liking of how to rate ourselves. But what we do do, we rate other people instead of ourself—and we so good at rating other people, but when it comes to ourselves, we can’t. And that’s the big issue in the prison system that we are so good at dictating and rating other people that comes into the prison system, but we forget about ourself. We forgot that we here too, we forgot that we did a similar breaking the law to put ourself in here. So, they rated us to say “You are a bad person. Because you are a bad person, this is where we’ll rate you to say, ‘This is what you need to be.'” In the prison system, they do have from one to five. One mean low level, two means low level, three means minimal. Four and five is high risk; you have the low risk, and you have the high risk. And they have what they call a P-Code, what they call a P-Code order, meaning that if you are level two or one—a level two, you never can go to a level one or beyond a level three, level four, and level five on some issues. So, we learned a lot of rating ourselves and we have the things to say, “We know who we are. And we know what we need to do to rate ourselves as a good, good standing.” That means, be able to know who you are, be able to rate yourself as a good, positive person. Be able to know, to rate yourself about good people around you. You can rate the one that you around because your circus is small. You don’t need a big circus to be that person, you always be who you are—not somebody else.
Rate yourself once a week, once a day, and see “How do I rate myself? What did I do today to rate myself? Did I do a good deed for somebody? And let me rate myself as being selfish ’cause I’m selfish.” Rate who rates you, who say, you know, determine and a percentage on a scale of one to 10. You go, “What did I—” ask somebody. Somebody that got common sense, though, somebody that really believe in what you’re trying to do. Because you’re trying to better yourself, the whole thing of the nutshell is better yourself. Be positive. Think positive. Help others. Don’t be eager to judge, and just stand by your word and don’t let nobody dictate you.
