“Senate Trial.”
Question: when is the trial not a trial? Answer: when it’s the Senate trial. After days of opening remarks and statements from the so-called trial of the president of the United States, the question of witnesses remains undecided.
The Institution’s majority leader, Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, has his lead foot on the gas, pedaling his way to a predetermined destination: acquittal town. And guess what? The car is still speeding down the road.
Will anything change the route? I don’t think so, for politicians don’t really care about principles. They care about power. And Trump, his finger just inches away from his sin button, holds his party like a wolf holds chickens. They don’t dare cross. Will they stand against him? Again, I don’t think so. A few months ago, I warned of a triumphant Trump. I still think that is the case, but we shall see.
